How to use part of your hard disk as RAM (Virtual Memory)
Nowdays most of the laptops or desktops are coming with higher RAM.But what about old systems having RAM of only 512 MB, 1 GB or 2 GB.Of course , your computer or laptop will be quite slow for your work.But guys don't worry.Here's a famous trick by which you can use small part of your hard disk (say 2GB or 5 GB) as virtual memory. This will increase your computer speed by atleast 60%. Just follow these steps and see the difference.1. Click on the start button and then got “Properties” of My
Computer by right clicking on My Computer icon.
2. Then go to Advance Tab
3. Click on the 'setting' under the performance tab.
4. Now Move to “Advance” Tab 5, under “Virtual
memory” Section click on
“Change” button
6. Now Select Drive “C”- whose space you want to utilize for virtual memory.
7. Select the option “Custom Size” for setting it value manually.
8. Now Set Initial Size (MB) to 4000 for
4GB or 2000 for 2GB or whatever according to your requirement.But it's better if you're keeping it atleast 2000.
9. Set Maximum Size to 5000 for 5GB i.e. 5GB of Local Disk C will be
used as Virtual Memory.Make it higher if you've enough space in Local Disk C.
10. Click on “Set” Button 11. Perform this with all other Drives also
13. Click "OK" everytime when it asks.
You will see the difference - will feel the improved performance once when your computer is restarted.
